Terms and Conditions
Terms and Conditions: For purposes of this agreement, “we,” “us,” and “our,” refers to SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union (Credit Union), and the words “you” and “your” mean you, the Member or account holder identified on the account records with us.
By participating in the eAlerts service you are agreeing to the terms and conditions presented here, in addition to any terms and conditions to which you have previously agreed with respect to your SchoolsFirst FCU account agreement, Disclosure and Agreement of Terms and Conditions, and the underlying online banking agreement of which this service is a part. In the event any provision in any such agreements conflicts with any provision in this Agreement, the parties agree that this Agreement shall control. The Credit Union at its discretion may modify these Terms and Conditions from time to time without notice or as otherwise provided by law. Your continued use of the eAlerts service will constitute acceptance of any new or amended Terms and Conditions. Please read this Agreement carefully.
- Questions: For questions regarding the eAlerts service, you can contact us at (800) 462-8328. For help with our text messaging services, send a text message with the word “HELP” to 724178.
- To stop text messages from coming to your mobile device: Send a text message with the word “STOP” to 724178. You'll receive a one-time opt-out confirmation text message. After that, you will not receive any future Credit Union initiated text messages. However, if you initiate a text message using the SchoolsFirst FCU text messaging service, we will respond with a text message.
E-mail and Text Messages
We send alerts to you based upon the instructions you provide to us. The e-mail address(es) you provide are neither reviewed nor verified by the Credit Union prior to or following activation of the eAlerts service. It is your responsibility to determine if your mobile service provider supports text messaging and your telephone or other mobile device is capable of receiving text messages. You agree that text messages that are delivered to your mobile device may be originated by an automated dialing system and you expressly consent to receiving text messages of this type. You also agree that we may send you information relative to the alerts you select through your communications service provider in order to deliver them to you and that your communications service provider is acting as your agent in this capacity. Please see our privacy policy.
You are responsible for understanding the operation and maintenance of your equipment. The Credit Union is not responsible for any errors or failures related to your equipment or for the cost of upgrading your equipment in order for you to receive alerts.
You hereby acknowledge and accept that each alert is sent to you without being encrypted. Because alerts are not encrypted, we will never include your password or full account number. However, alerts may include your name and some information pertaining to your Credit Union account(s). Depending on which alerts you select, information such as your account balance or the due date for your loan payment may be included. Anyone with access to your email or mobile device text messages will be able to view the contents of these alerts.
Alert Types
We provide automatic alerts and voluntary alerts.
Automatic alerts are sent to you following important account activities or when certain changes are made to your account via Online Banking, such as a change in your email or home address, telephone number or password, insufficient funds, fraudulent or suspicious card activity. You do not need to activate these alerts; we automatically activate them for you. These automatic alerts provide important information related to your account security and activities. Voluntary alerts must be activated by you. Voluntary alerts allow you to choose alert messages for your accounts. Each alert has different options available, and you will be asked to select from among these options upon activation of your eAlerts service.
Both automatic and voluntary alerts are subject to the following:
- We may add new automatic and voluntary alerts from time to time, or cancel old alerts. We usually notify you when we cancel alerts, but are not obligated to do so.
- Alerts will be sent to the email address(es) you provide, up to a maximum of two. For your security, email alerts of fraudulent, irregular or suspicious debit card activity cannot be turned off. You can also choose to have alerts sent to mobile devices that accept text messages, up to a maximum of three. If your email address or your mobile device's number changes, you are responsible for informing us of that change.
- The Credit Union provides the eAlerts service as a convenience to you for informational purposes only. An alert does not constitute a bank record for the deposit or credit account to which it pertains and is not a substitute for the periodic statements or other notices we may send you about your account(s). Periodic statements and other notices remain the official records of your account(s), and your ongoing obligation to promptly review periodic statements, other notices, and all other correspondence from us regarding your account(s) and other services you obtain from us remains in full force and effect.
Fees
There is no fee for the eAlerts service; however, you are responsible for any and all charges imposed by your communications service provider, including but not limited to, fees associated with text messaging. Message and data rates may apply.
Credit Union Liability
You acknowledge and agree that your receipt of any alerts may be delayed or prevented by factor(s) affecting your cellular phone service provider, Internet service provider(s) and other factors outside the Credit Union's control. We do our best to provide alerts in a timely manner with accurate information; however, we neither guarantee the delivery nor the accuracy of the contents of each alert. You agree to not hold SchoolsFirst FCU, its directors, officers, employees and agents liable for losses or damages, including attorneys' fees, that may arise, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from (a) a non-delivery, delayed delivery, or the misdirected delivery of an alert; (b) inaccurate or incomplete content in an alert; or (c) your reliance on or use of the information provided in an alert for any purpose.
SchoolsFirst FCU reserves the right to change or terminate its eAlerts service at any time without prior notice to you or as otherwise provided by law. Nothing contained herein shall amend, supersede or nullify anything contained in any other agreement you have made with SchoolsFirst FCU.
Restrictions on Use
You warrant and agree that you will not use, or authorize the use of, the eAlerts service for any illegal, fraudulent, unauthorized or improper manner or purpose as determined by applicable laws, rules and regulations. You agree that the Credit Union will not have any liability, responsibility, or culpability whatsoever for any such use by you or any authorized users. You further agree to indemnify and hold the Credit Union harmless from any lawsuits, liability, damages or adverse action of any kind that results directly or indirectly from such illegal use.
We reserve the right to cancel your eAlerts service in whole or in part, at any time with or without cause and without prior notice. We also reserve the right to temporarily suspend the eAlerts service in situations deemed appropriate by us, at our sole and absolute discretion, including when we believe a breach of system security has occurred or is being attempted.
The Credit Union shall not be deemed to have waived any of its rights or remedies hereunder unless such waiver is in writing and signed by a Credit Union officer. No delay or omission on the part of the Credit Union in exercising any rights or remedies shall operate as a waiver of such rights or remedies or any other rights or remedies. A waiver on any one occasion shall not be construed as a bar or waiver of any rights or remedies on future occasions.
