SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union’s Josh Smith Named Chairman of Classroom of the Future Foundation Board
July 8, 2026
Josh Smith, vice president of school and community relations at SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, has been named chairman of the Classroom of the Future Foundation board of directors, a nonprofit that brings together education, business and community leaders to advance innovation in San Diego County schools.
Smith was appointed to the role on June 25, 2026. He succeeds Dr. Leighangela Brady, who recently announced her retirement as superintendent of National School District.
Smith joined the Classroom of the Future Foundation Executive Board in 2024 and was named vice chair in June 2025. In his role at SchoolsFirst FCU, Smith works closely with educators, school districts and community partners to strengthen connections between schools and the resources that support student success. His appointment follows a year of close collaboration with Brady as part of a planned leadership transition designed to support continuity and momentum for the Foundation.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as chair of the Classroom of the Future Foundation Board,” Smith said. “This organization shows what is possible when educators, business leaders and community partners work together to advance innovation in education. Through our shared commitment, I look forward to collaborating with fellow board members and community leaders to support educators and create meaningful opportunities for students.”
As chair, Smith will help guide the Foundation’s efforts to connect educators with partners and programs that encourage innovation in the classroom and expand opportunities for students across San Diego County.
“One of the strengths of the Classroom of the Future Foundation is the continuity of leadership that allows us to build on our momentum year after year, and I couldn’t be more pleased to pass the gavel to Josh Smith,” said outgoing chair Dr. Leighangela Brady. “Having worked closely with Josh throughout the past year, I know he brings a deep commitment to CFF’s mission and a collaborative approach that will serve the Foundation well.”
The Classroom of the Future Foundation’s mission is to inspire, support and recognize educational innovation in schools by partnering with education, business and community leaders.
