January 28, 2026

SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union has been recognized as one of Newsweek’s America’s Best Regional Banks & Credit Unions 2026, marking the third consecutive year the Credit Union has earned this distinction.

The ranking highlights financial institutions that combine strong financial performance with a commitment to powering local economies by supporting small businesses, community projects and providing reliable access to everyday banking services. SchoolsFirst FCU was among the top 500 highest-scoring credit unions nationwide, selected from more than 8,800 banks and credit unions.

“Being recognized by Newsweek for the third year in a row is a reflection of the trust our Members place in us and the dedication of our team to in serving Members and caring about their financial well-being,” said Bill Cheney, chief executive officer of SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union. “Our mission is to deliver World-Class Personal Service and financial well-being for school employees and their families.”

Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group conducted an independent research study using U.S. Census data. Financial institutions could not apply or pay to be included. Banks and credit unions included in the analysis demonstrated strong financial health, operational performance and metrics tied to long-term stability.

Customer experience was also a key factor. More than 140,000 customers contributed 2.3 million reviews, rating institutions across 52 statements in 12 categories including trust, satisfaction and overall banking experience.
