SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union Partners with Orange County Department of Education to Celebrate 2026 Orange County Teachers of the Year

December 10, 2025

SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union reaffirmed its longstanding partnership with the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) as the premier sponsor of the 2026 Orange County Teachers of the Year Gala, held on November 7 at the Disneyland Hotel.

This annual celebration honors Orange County’s most exceptional educators. For over thirty years, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union has supported this program, contributing more than $3 million since 1992 to recognize local educators.

“Our partnership with the Orange County Department of Education celebrates the extraordinary contributions of our local teachers," said Josh Smith, vice president, school and community relations at SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union. “School employees and their families are at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to supporting those who dedicate their lives to shaping future generations.”

During the gala, all 62 remarkable educators were awarded a $500 award from SchoolsFirst FCU along with a cozy, monogrammed blanket in recognition of their leadership, innovation and commitment to student success. Earlier in the evening, the 16 semi-finalists and finalists were treated to a pre-gala reception hosted by SchoolsFirst FCU, with each receiving an additional $250 check.

To wrap up the 2026 celebration, the top 6 finalists received a $25,000 award from the Orange County Teachers of the Year Award Foundation. The finalists are listed below.

  • Jeannette Aguilera, Centralia Elementary School — Centralia Elementary School District
  • Darcy A. Blake, Ladera Vista Junior High School of the Arts — Fullerton School District
  • Erin Bro, San Clemente High School — Capistrano Unified School District
  • Tracy Havens, Hicks Canyon Elementary School — Tustin Unified School District
  • Megan Lee, Loara Elementary School — Anaheim Elementary School District
  • Catherine Reinhardt-Zacair, Fullerton College — North Orange County Community College District

“Orange County teachers are tasked with the vital responsibility of guiding and nurturing our students through the most formative times of their lives,” said Stefan Bean, Ed.D., County Superintendent of Schools. “This year’s theme, ‘Lighting the Way,’ perfectly depicts what these educators do each day — illuminating paths to success that reflect each student’s unique passions. Whether it’s by sparking curiosity, building confidence or offering steady encouragement, great teachers help students unlock their full potential. Leading with purpose isn’t easy, but those who answer the call make a lasting difference. On behalf of the Orange County Department of Education, I want to congratulate the 2026 Orange County Teachers of the Year. Your unwavering commitment to supporting future generations is deeply appreciated, and your passion for inspiring a belief in what’s possible will continue to light the way.”
