On the third Thursday of October each year, credit unions around the world commemorate International Credit Union Day®, a global celebration organized by World Council of Credit Unions, the global trade association and development platform for credit unions and other financial cooperatives.

Congresswoman Young Kim and Assemblyman Tri Ta, along with representatives from local assembly and congressional districts, presented proclamations to each of the credit unions in their legislative districts. Themed “Cooperation for a Prosperous World,” this international event offers the opportunity to remember credit unions’ history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union and financial cooperative difference.

Globally, more than 74,000 credit unions serve 411 million members across 104 countries, managing $3.7 trillion in assets — yet 1.4 billion people remain unbanked, underscoring the need for inclusive financial solutions.
