Economic Impact/Stimulus Payments

The IRS is beginning to distribute a second round of Economic Impact Payments, also referred to as stimulus payments or stimulus checks.

Your eligibility, the amount you will receive, and where and when your payment will be made is the sole decision of the IRS. Our branches and Member Contact Center unfortunately do not have access to this information.

If you are eligible for a payment, you will receive it one of three ways:

  • Direct deposit
  • Mailed check
  • Mailed debit card

The fastest and safest way to find out if your stimulus check was deposited into your SchoolsFirst FCU account is to log in to Online or Mobile Banking. If you don’t have Online Banking register today.

You can also sign up for Account Alerts to receive an immediate notification by email or text1 when your deposit is in your account.

Here’s how to set it up:

In Online Banking

  • Go to Settings & Profile, then Alerts
  • Confirm your email(s) and mobile phone number(s)
  • Select the dropdown of the account you want to receive alerts for and customize your settings, and check the box to enable alerts

In Mobile Banking

  • Go to Setting & Profile by clicking the icon in the upper right corner and select Alerts
  • Confirm your email(s) and mobile phone number(s)
  • Select the orange icon below the account you want to receive alerts for and customize your settings, return to the previous screen and toggle the dial to the right


General Questions

Q: When will I receive my stimulus payment and how much can I expect to receive?

A: Unfortunately, we don’t have that access to that information. Please visit the IRS website Get My Payment for your eligibility and payment status.

Q: I visited the IRS website and it indicates I’m eligible and should have received my stimulus payment, but it’s not in my account. Can you let me know where it is?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot. As soon as we receive the money from the IRS it is immediately deposited into your account. 

Q. I have questions about the amount of my payment, can you help?

A. Unfortunately, our branches and Member Contact Center will not have this information. To receive information regarding eligibility, calculating and receiving payments please visit the IRS Website Get My Payment.

While there you can check status of your payment, payment type (direct deposit (electronically) or paper check) and how to set up a direct deposit if available.

Receiving a Payment

Q. How do I know if I received my payment electronically?

A. Check your account safely without leaving home.

  • Monitor your account using our Mobile Banking app or in Online Banking
  • Set up a direct deposit account alert to tell you when direct deposits post to your account
  • The description of the deposit in your account will include the word "IRS." Keep in mind, the IRS is using the same description for both the stimulus payment and income tax refund.

Q. How can I deposit my paper check without visiting a branch?


  • Use eDeposit in our Mobile Banking app, you can deposit a paper check, using a photo image, and get confirmation immediately.
  • Deposit via a SchoolsFirst FCU ATM or at over 28,000 fee-free ATMs. To find the nearest ATM visit our website or use the finder in Mobile Banking.
  • If you must visit a branch, we encourage you to follow the health and safety guidelines, including physical distancing and wearing a face covering.

Tracking Your Stimulus Payment

Q. The IRS has bank information that is no longer current. What should I do?

A. In some situations you may be able to update your account information. Visit Get My Payment to learn more.

Q. Why isn’t my stimulus deposit showing up in my account?

A. All electronic deposit payments are posted to your account on the date they are received from the IRS. For more information, please go to Get My Payment to track the status of your stimulus payment.

Q. I still haven’t received my payment. How can I find out where it is?

A. Unfortunately our branches and Member Contact Center will not have this information. The IRS is solely responsible for the distribution, amount, and has stated that payments will be sent in waves over the course of multiple weeks. Please go to the IRS website and visit Get My Payment to learn more.

How to Avoid Scams

As we saw with the last stimulus payment there are many bad actors trying to scam consumers. Please take these preventive actions:

  • Never provide your personal or financial information or an access code to your account via email, text, or to an unsolicited caller.
  • Set up account alerts. You can find them here.
  • Check the IRS Get My Payment Website for information about your payment status and account information. If it not correct, please update it.
  • Make sure your SchoolsFirst FCU contact information is correct. Log on to Online or Mobile Banking to update your profile.
