Serving in the financial services industry for more than four years, Brock values the trust Members have placed in the Credit Union to help them on their financial path.
He believes identifying what life stage a Member is in helps him assist them in reaching their short- and long-term goals. “Someone just starting out is going to look a lot different from someone nearing retirement,” he says. “They likely have much different goals and I'm here to help them get there.”
Brock suggests Members adopt a save first and spend what’s left strategy. He says that Members find it hard to save because they are trying to find ways to save in their budgets after expenses, when they should save first and build their budgets around that. “A good way to start is the 50, 30, 20 approach. 50% of your take-home pay goes to fixed needs, 30% can be used for discretionary spending and 20% to savings.”
