Who Can Become a Member?

The common bond for our Members is the educational industry. To join SchoolsFirst FCU, a completed Membership application is needed along with a $5 share, which is deposited into your Share Savings account. As a condition of establishing Membership, you must confirm your eligibility prior to or subsequent to opening your Share Savings account.

SchoolsFirst FCU’s service area is the following Southern California counties:

  • Imperial
  • Kern
  • Los Angeles
  • Orange
  • Riverside
  • San Bernardino
  • San Diego
  • San Luis Obispo
  • Santa Barbara
  • Ventura
Within those counties, we serve employees of the following educational entities:

  • Public elementary and secondary schools
  • Private elementary and secondary schools that are listed as a private school in the California Department of Education School Directory
  • County Superintendents of Schools
  • Community colleges
  • Authorized colleges and universities that offer degree programs
  • Authorized education foundations
In addition, we serve the following:

  • Members of the boards of trustees of eligible schools
  • Educators who have retired from one of the above eligible educational entities, who are receiving a pension or annuity from that entity’s retirement program, such as STRS or PERS
  • Immediate family members of any existing SchoolsFirst FCU Member (spouse, domestic partner, mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, grandparent, grandchild)
