Stafford Student Loan
As you explore options for college funding, you’ll want to carefully consider the benefits of a Stafford Student Loan. This low interest rate loan features deferred payments until after graduation and offers both subsidized and unsubsidized programs. You may qualify for both a subsidized and unsubsidized loan, but check first to make sure your school participates in the program.
A Subsidized Stafford Student Loan is awarded based on financial need. With this loan, during in-school and deferment periods, the loan interest is paid by the federal government.
An Unsubsidized Stafford Student Loan is not awarded based on need. With this loan, the loan interest accrues during in-school and grace periods and is paid by the borrower, but can be deferred until after graduation.
