April 01, 2024

These scams often involve someone posing as a potential employer to get your personal information or money. Never respond to potential employment offers that require you to pay a fee, provide your personal information before you've been hired, or that seem too good to be true.

How to Protect Yourself:
  • Do your research before apply for jobs.
  • Make sure the company and job offerings are legitimate.
  • Read reviews from former employees.
  • Never pay a fee to apply for a job or equipment.
  • Be careful about providing personal information.
  • Never provide your Social Security, bank account or credit card numbers to strangers.
  • Contact your local Better Business Bureau or FTC to help you determine if a job offer is real or a scam.
